Our story

Eat local. Support local.

Your hosts, Mike & Wendy Webster. Mike is our brew master and Wendy curates the cafe.

How we started

With a background in building and accommodation management, Mike and Wendy couldn't knock back the chance to restore the old Mount Alford General Store. After commuting between Brisbane and their weekend property for a number of years, they made their tree change to the Scenic Rim permanent. Mike sought his accreditation and went to beer university in Berlin whilst Wendy explored her European heritage and got to work with Oma's recipe book.

The brewery was born in 2013 with the birth of our first two larrikins - Digga's Pale Ale and Fat Man Maroon Ale. The restoration work and retrofitting a complete brewery setup didn't see the brewery doors officially open until 2016.

The shop was in a bad way but as much of her heritage was reserved as possible. The front awning was in danger of collapse and there were many local rumours about what resided under the floorboards! The floor to ceiling shelves were retained, the original serving counter and floorboards stripped back, solar power and a brand new rear deck added. Our beer tasting paddle boards were originally part of the back before we widened the doors to get our copper brew tanks inside.
